Ethnic Food Meet Demands of Today’s Consumers – More Will Discover Halal and Kosher Food

wheatA bit off topic for this blog, but still interesting – Packaged Facts has published a report on opportunities for mainstream companies interested in selling halal and kosher food. The report ” MarketTrend: Kosher- and Halal-Certified Foods in the U.S.” shows that sales of kosher foods through grocery stores swelled from nearly $150 billion in 2003 to more than $200 billion in 2008, demonstrating a compound annual growth rate twice that of the overall food market. With current organic and fair-trade food trends, Packaged Facts predict that food customers will open their eyes to these products even more as they have strict rules on what ingredients they can contain and frequency of inspection is higher (than rules imposed by US government).

So, if you’re a food retailer looking for new sales opportunities this is a product you can sell both to ethnic and mainstream community. Bon appetite!
